sold This is a HUGE FRENCH JET CAMEO IN A GREAT LOOKING SETTING.It is glass or French jet.There are tiny pearls around the cameo and them the larger ones glued on.They are just costume.The back is enclosed in metal also.It weighs 51.6 penneyweights very heavy.It is 2 5/8 by 2 3/4'Has a loop for a chain.There are a few tiny flea bites on edge of neck and one on edge of cameo cannot see.From the 30-40's. 1295.00 This is an EXTREMELY RARE LAVA CAMEO OF DIANA AND THE PRINCE OF WALES.It is carved by G.Noto.He did a cameo for their wedding in 1981 in his senior years before he died.This is one of the practice pieces he did before the actual carving.It is done by him and not by a student as most of the cameos signed G.Noto are that are for sale.They called him the Professor and he died in 1985.He worked for G Appa for many years and taught students.His works are very collectible and highly sought after.You might call this a prototype for the actual wedding cameo.It is signed on the front and set in 9 kt gold.The size is 1 1/2 by 2".Mint conditionCLICK CLICKCLICK |

895.00 This is A RARE AND FINE EARLY LAVA CAMEO OF HERCULES.The setting is at least 14 kt gold.The size is 1 3/8 by 2"Has it t bar but has had a newer safety catch put on.Comes with a paper showing how it was passed down from a mother to daughter to grandaughter- 4 generations.The last receiving the cameo in 1973.Also says carved from Mt Vesuvius lava.From around 1850.As you can see there is a line across the cameo.There are also some more barely seen lines around the mouth and cheek of this color graining.I have looped these and they are just grain in the lava.No separations-not cracks maybe a tiny indent..I have no idea what the line is.It may be some kind of graining.I would think if the lava was going to crack it would be a smooth line this line has tons of up and down zig zags in it.I just think it is a really old lava stone.I have run over the line with a tiny needle and it will not catch in the area-if it were cracked it would catch.Please do not buy this cameo if you cannot live with the line Please look at all the pictures..Every curl of the lions mane is done by a master carver...The picture does not do it justice..From my own collection CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK |
